Alpana and Sahil
When the whole world is quiet, that is when love shines through. It takes a lot to hear the soft murmurings of something real, easily drowned in the din of everyday life, of fears and anxieties. But when you pause a moment and listen consciously, the warmth of love shines through and makes this all worth it. “Nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know. True love begins when nothing is looked for in return.” says The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. When the world was stuck inside, ruminating in the aftermath of the pandemic, the world quiet, is when Alpana and Sahil’s love took center stage and their intimate wedding became a platform to declare their long lasting commitment to each other.
Read on below to know their beautiful love story and how we dressed Alpana in our classic Sitara lehenga for her court wedding!
How did you meet?
We have known each other since early 2018 through a common friend. Sahil was in the west coast (California) and I used to live in the East coast but whenever we got a chance to travel, we made sure to see each other (initially just as friends). May 15th, 201 was the first time Sahil had messaged me and there was no going back after that. I still remember, I was so shy when we first saw each other virtually on facetime. Thereafter, one thing led to another and then in August 2018. Sahil finally decided to take a 7 hour long flight from California to Virginia just to meet me. After meeting him, I was very sure that this is something which is going to last for a long time! We were in a long distance relationship for about 2 years and either of us used to travel to see each other, and even though it was only 4 to 5 days that we got to spend together but those were the days I was the happiest! Jan 2020, I moved to California for work and obviously because of Sahil! We had been planning our wedding since May 2020 but every other plan was just not working! (Obviously because of COVID). March 30th 2021 was the day when he finally proposed to me at the Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, California. Well, as the situation wasn't getting any better for us to travel to India or our parents to come here and of course we couldn't wait any longer to spend our lives together and so we decided to do a small court wedding having my sister and a very close friend. We finally got married on 27th August, 2021!
How did you pick Chamee and Palak for your wedding?
We had heard a lot about Wedmegood and that's how we came across Chamee and Palak and since then I have been in love with their designs. I have literally seen all of the designs/Lehengas on their website as well as on their Instagram page. I really like how their outfits are so elegant and at the same time so budget friendly! Initially I bought a wine red sparkly gorgeous lehenga for my Cocktail night and a pastel Yellow Sharara with a gorgeous blush pink dupatta for my Haldi from Chamee and Palak. I am still looking forward to wearing them when we do our wedding celebration with all the traditional functions! For my court wedding, I picked the Sitaara Lehenga from Chamee and Palak and OMG, I cannot thank you guys enough how gorgeous the lehenga looked on me and made our day just so perfect!
Tell us a little bit about your wedding! What were your favorite moments?
We had a small court wedding on 27th August, 2021 followed by a 20 min prayer ritual which was performed by a Hindu priest! We had my sister and one of our very close friends who attended our wedding. On our wedding day, having Sahil beside just made me forget everything which did not go according to our plan. Seeing him so happy, I just didn't know how it gets better than this!
How was your experience with Chamee and Palak?
My experience was amazing! The entire process right from selecting the lehenga to getting the right measurements done via WhatsApp calls and videos to payments was just so seamless. The team was always so responsive and willing to work with me on every little detail. The lehenga arrived right on time as it was promised. Overall, my experience was really good and I am definitely going to recommend Chamee and Palak to all my friends and family.
What were the design requirements you were looking for in your lehenga?
For my court wedding lehenga, I wanted something in red but at the same time I was sure of not wearing something too heavy. The lehenga I had picturized in my mind had to be Elegant, Chic and a hint of traditional as well! I wanted to have the warm and contemporary look and Chamee and Palak did complete justice to what I was exactly looking for!
